Cheltenham Canoe Club is primarily a white water club but also runs flat water trips e.g. River Avon and moving water trips e.g. Symonds Yat rapids on the Wye to develop a beginner paddler in the spring/summer months. If you decide to join the Club after the taster session or beginners course then activities run throughout the year.
The beginners courses are aimed at those with an interest in developing their paddling skills by attending Club activities/trips throughout the year including the autumn/winter months.
Ultimately we are looking to find adventurous, self-starting, motivated individuals who want to take the formative steps necessary to approach river kayaking with a measured and mature approach. Learning to read a river, becoming aware of hazards, able to make the right judgment calls for the safety of themselves and those kayaking with them. Most of all we are looking for adults and juniors to join the club and enjoy the beauty of the rivers of South West England, Wales and beyond… and the excitement of tackling the winter rapids.
