River Usk this Sunday...meet at Dowtys 0730

Call Rich Berry for more details.... or post on the forum.

Winter Pool Sessions are back from 4th Feb to 25th Mar!!!

Winter pool sessions start back this week. Directions to Tewkesbury pool can be found under Club Info. The sessions start at 1900 and finish at 2030. To ensure a prompt start get to the pool for about 1845 so that you can change before the prevous group take over the changing rooms.

Steve Slater is kind enough to take up 6 or so boats each week for those that dont have their own. However, if it is possible for those who need a boat to pick one up from the club shed before the session, please do so. Give Steve a call to arrange a time (number in the Newsletter), this will lessen the burden on him.

Remeber - those with their own boats must ensure that they are clean before they go in the pool. No sand, mud, loose screws or peeling stickers please.

Coaches/Lifeguards - we are short of volunteers to help run the sessions. Anyone who is willing can coach, you dont neet to be BCU qualified. Guaranteed that you will know something that others don't and any knowledge transfer is good for all. To be a lifeguard you either need to be an Old Level 2 or New Level 1 coach with a valid first aid certificate. Again, if you are willing to help out please get in touch with Steve.

If you need further information drop me an email (link in Club Info).

Proposed changes to the Cheltenham Canoe Club Constitution – AGM 2010

Change 1

A change was suggested at the AGM of 2009, it was not accepted at the time – but was agreed to be reviewed at the AGM of 2010. It has since been discussed by the committee and alternative wording is shown below for your consideration

7.3 Hon Treasurer: The Hon Treasurer will be responsible for the collection of all monies including subscriptions and shall keep such books of account as required by the General Meeting. The HonTreasurer shall be responsible for having the books audited and shall produce at the AGM balance sheets showing the financial state of the club. Cheques should have two signatures. The Treasurer must make the committee aware of any existing or potential financial or cash flow problems.

Change 2

For ease of reading the committee wishes to alter the following:

6. General Committee to become 6. General Committee Construct;

8. General Committee to become 8. General Committee Responsibilities.

Merry Christmas 2009

Wishing all members a very Merry Christmas.

Don't forget our festive mountain biking session on the 29th - It's time to blow up those tyres, oil your chain, check them brakes (not necessary as we only stop at the end (pub). It's also time to burn off those calories that you may have put on over the last couple of days (can't think why)  and jump on yer bike and join us on the Tuesday 29th for our traditional seasonal fun bike ride. We will be centring around Bibury. Get in touch with Steve Slater for for info.
