Junior Opportunities 2017

There are a couple of exciting opportunities available to new and existing Cheltenham Canoe Club members which are detailed below.

Junior Development Programme: 10-18 years

The programme is aimed at children who have had some introductory kayaking sessions and would like to develop their skills further and includes pool sessions, river trips and taster slalom and/or polo sessions. These sessions will take place at Sandford Parks Lido on Thursday evenings and at weekends.

A provisional programme is set out below with the first session starting at the Lido on Thursday 4 May 2017 from 7.30pm.

Club Activity Assistant (16-18 years old and adults)

An ideal role for existing junior club paddlers and adults who would like to volunteer and support the Club’s current coaches deliver sessions at the Lido and develop a new set of skills.

You will receive in-house training at the Lido this summer following the British Canoeing criteria for a Club Activity Assistant.

You will also receive training to complete the BCU 2 Star Award and will attend a one day Foundation Safety and Rescue Training course (FSRT) which will provide you with key safety and rescue skills.

CCC are looking for paddlers who have shown long term commitment in terms of paddling with, or competing for the Club and will provide financial support for the FSRT course.
