Canoe polo (usually just called ‘polo’) is a 5-a-side team ball-game, played in kayaks on sheltered water and indoor pools. It is a fast and exciting team sport where the objective is to score more goals than the opposition, but is also a great way to develop paddling skills in a fun environment.
Cheltenham Canoe Club has enjoyed a regular presence in the South West regional canoe polo leagues. For the 2023-24 winter season, the mighty ‘Cheltenham Cheetahs’ will return to action after a brief hiatus, as the club has entered a team in the regional league, at a level where novice players are welcome.
We will then be training each week through the summer, at the pool sessions at the Sandford Parks Lido on a Thursday night 7:30 – 9 pm. We welcome new players, both beginners and the more experienced. To find out more, or to get involved, please contact Michael (polo@cheltenhamcanoeclub.com) … or just come down on a Thursday evening and see what all the fuss is about!
